Abstract

1284172 Buckle AEROQUIP AG 24 April 1970 [14 May 1969] 19886/70 Heading E2A A buckle 11 has a body 12 having a central pressure bar 13 and sides 14, 15 which support a bar 16 having a strap 17 attached thereto, support a roller 37, support a pin 38, and which support a pin 19 having a member 18 pivotally mounted thereon. The member 18 is provided with arms 21, 22 having a number of rows of teeth 23 thereon, the rows being spaced with the same pitch as cross-threads 24 of a strap 25 which is to be secured by the buckle. The arms 21, 22 are urged towards the central portion 13 of the body 12 by means of a spring 27. The pin 19 also rotatably-supports a handle 28, a portion 29 thereof being located between the arms 21, 22 of the member 18, and shoulders 31, 32 thereof being engageable with shoulders 33, 34 formed on the arms 21, 22 respectively. The handle 28 is urged towards the pressure bar 13 of the body 12 by means of a spring 35 which is mounted on the pin 19, and is received in recesses 36 formed in the sides 14, 15 of the body 12 so as to be flush therewith. In order to attach a strap 25 to the buckle 11, the handle 28, and consequently the member 18, is moved to the position shown in Fig. 3, the strap is passed under the pin 38, under the member 18, around the roller 37, then back under the member 18 and finally under the pin 38. The handle 28 is then released and the strap is drawn taut by pulling the upper layer thereof. The tension in the lower layer is transmitted to the upper layer around the roller 37 and the member 18 is urged more tightly against the strap. The latter may be released either by moving the handle 28 direct or by moving the handle 28 by means of the free end of the strap, as shown in Fig. 3.
