Abstract

1284041 Fluid pressure brake actuators BENDIX CORP 18 May 1971 [18 May 1970] 15498/71 Heading F2F An actuator for brakes in which the brakes can be spring applied and fluid pressure released has a first piston 22, in a bore 14, by which the brakes can be applied, resilient means in the form of conical washers 40 biasing the piston in a brake-applying direction, a second piston 46, for releasing the brakes by fluid pressure, connected to the first piston by a non-retractable abutting connection comprising two members 34, 52 movable parallely to the brake applying direction with respect to one another on rotation therebetween and a member in the form of a hexagonal nut 50 by means of which such rotation can be applied to compress the washers 40 and release the brake.
