Abstract

1283438 Antiskid braking systems BENDIX CORP 24 June 1970 30593/70 Heading F2F An antiskid braking system for a vehicle includes a master cylinder 14 and servomotor 10, a deceleration sensing mechanism 32 feeding a signal to a computer mechanism 38 energized by means of a switch 40 whenever the brake pedal 16 is depressed and valves 56, 58 which control operation of the servomotor in rseponse to signals from the mechanism 38. Rear drum brakes are also regulated in response to load by means of a valve 24 operated by a lever arm 44 connected by a spring 46 to a bracket 48 depending from the vehicle frame. In operation depression of pedal 16 energizes the system and operates a valve -to admit air to the pistons to apply the brakes unless imminent skidding is sensed and valves 56, 58 are operated, braking being decreased in such circumstance by vacuum applied to chambers 62, 64, via the valves.
