1283076 Enzymatic 11-hydroxylation of steroids E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 17 June 1969 [17 June 1968] 27984/69 Heading C2U Enzymatic 11α- and 11#-hydroxylation is effected on optionally salified 16,17-cycloborate esters of 16α,17α-dihydroxysteroids, preferably of the pregnane series. The initial cycloborate may be prepared from the 16α,17α-diol, e.g. by reaction with borax and KOH. The 11-hydroxylated cycloborate may be isolated or may be acidified to give an 11,16α,17α-triol.
