Abstract
1282930 Magnetic separators ELECTROMAGNETS Ltd 19 April 1971 [30 Dec 1969] 63169/69 Heading B2J A magnetic separator includes a feeding device such as a rotary vibrating bowl 11 for feeding a mixture of magnetic and non-magnetic material in a transverse direction to the upward direction of movement of an operative surface to which the magnetic material adheres. The operative surface preferably comprises the surface of a drum 16 in which a stationary magnet unit 18 is housed. Material to be separated is loaded onto the bowl 11 at D from where rotation and vibration cause it to be brought tangentially against the surface of the drum 16. The drum 16 may have a conveyor belt running over it. A linear vibratory conveyor may be employed with an edge which is inclined at an acute angle to the longitudinal direction of the conveyor, the drum being positioned along this edge.
