Abstract

1282891 Making fuel injection nozzles; welding by fusion BRYCE BERGER Ltd 19 Dec 1969 [3 Feb 1969] 5612/69 Headings B3A and B3R [Also in Division F1] In a fuel injection nozzle, having a metal shroud 17, Fig. 1, secured to the periphery of a cylindrical nozzle body 10 to define a coolant circulation cavity 12, the nozzle body is formed from hardened material, e.g. steel, and the shroud is secured to the body by electron beam welding. The shroud 17 is also of steel and is welded at joints 18, 19. In another embodiment, the shroud extends over a substantial length of the body and a baffle directs coolant into an annular space.
