Abstract
1281691 Coils for dynamo-electric machines C A PARSONS & CO Ltd 9 July 1969 [9 July 1968] 32781/68 Heading H2A In a dynamo-electric machine having a multilayer rotor winding with two or more radially spaced conductors in each coil side, the conductors in the end winding are arranged in an even number of radially spaced layers, the number of layers having a minimum of four and a maximum equal to twice the number of conductors in a coil side. In the two layer, two conductor per coil side "diamond type" winding shown, the conductors in each end winding are arranged in four layers a, b, c, d, the end d of the lowermost conductor in each slot being shortpitched by one slot pitch so as to lie radially in line with the end c of a conductor of an adjacent slot, thus facilitating the interconnection of the conductors in the different layers. The arrangement of a two layer, three conductor per coil side winding having six layers of end conductors is described with reference to Figs. 7 to 11 (not shown). A further arrangement, of a two layer, four conductor per coil side winding having four layers of end conductors is described with reference to Figs. 13-18 (not shown) the ends of the two lowermost conductors G, H in each slot being transposed at opposite ends of the core (best depicted in Figs. 19, 20, not shown) to facilitate interconnection of the conductors in the different layers of the end winding. Where space permits, the interconnecting links between the layers are placed in the same axial plane to reduce the overall axial length of the end winding.
