Abstract

1281547 Polyamide-containing polyester IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 June 1970 [26 June 1969] 32377/69 Heading C3R A fibre-forming polyester has dispersed therein a proportion of a fibre-forming polyamide, the molecule of the polyamide containing such a proportion of basic nitrogen-containing groupings that the resultant polyester/polyamide mixture contains more than 80 microequivalents of basic nitrogen per gramme, the proportion of polyamide amounting to from 2-20% of the mixture, the polyester being free from polyalkyleneoxy groups and having no such groups dispersed therein. In the Examples mixtures are prepared of polyethylene terephthalate with polyamides derived from N,N<SP>1</SP>-bis-(3-aminopropyl)piperazine, with adipic acid, dodecane- 1,12-dioic acid, dibutyl oxalate or diethyl piperazine-N,N<SP>1</SP>-diacetate and from N-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine with sebacic acid; and from adipic acid/N,N<SP>1</SP>-bis-(3-aminopropyl)piperazine polyamide with polytetramethylene terephthalate and with polyethylene isophthalate/terephthalate copolymer.
