1281017 Austenitic stainless steel UNITED STATES STEEL CORP 28 July 1969 37819/69 Heading C7A Meta-stable austenitic stainless steel with good hot workability and ductility comprises:- C 0À11-0À18% Cr 14-19% Mn 5À5-8% Ni 4À5-6% N 0À015-0À08% Mo up to 0À5% P 0À04% max. Si 1% max. and S 0À04% max., the balance apart from impurities such as up to 0À1% Co, being Fe and has maximum N contents of 0À04% for C less than 0À125% and 0À06% for C more than 0À145%. The steel may be processed by hot working at 2200-2250‹F. optionally followed by cold working.
