Abstract

1280814 Bottle valve W H T TAYLEUR 9 July 1969 [9 July 1968] 32605/68 Heading B8T [Also in Division F2] A hand-operated valve for use in bottling liquids comprises a feed tube 1 open at one end for communication with liquid a container (not shown) and closed by plate 2 at its other end, there being apertures 3 adjacent the closed end. A sleeve 6 which has a radially projecting flange 9 surrounds the tube 1 and is slidable relative to the tube, being limited in its movement by a rubber collar 4 backed by a washer 5 and by the plate 2. A spring 11 ensures that the sleeve 6 covers the apertures 3 when the valve is not in use, Fig. 1 (not shown). Apertures 10 in the flange 9 permit air to escape from the bottle 8 as the filling liquid enters. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), the sleeve is composed of a cylindrical tubular portion (12) from which fins (13) project, each fin having a lug (15) which is adapted to seat on to a bottle neck. In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) the sleeve is triangular shaped in plan.
