Abstract
1280744 'Suction dredgers, floating structures' KONINKLIJKE MAATSCHAPPIJ TOT HET UITVOEREN VAN OPENBARE WERKEN ADRIAAN VOLKER NV 15 April 1970 [17 April 1969] 18040/70 Headings E1F and E1H Rolling or pitching of a floating, anchored suction dredger is kept to a minimum by constructing the dredger so as to have a working deck supported at all times above the water in which the dredger is operating by slender columns mounted on a hull or hulls submerged to a depth at which the water is undisturbed by any wave formations at the surface of the water. The double-acting pump operating the suction apparatus of the dredger may be mounted on the deck or on or in the hull or hulls. The depth to which the hull or hulls are submerged can be varied by appropriate ballasting of the dredger. When working in shallow water the dredger is so ballasted that the hull or hulls are located in a trench formed by the suction apparatus.
