Abstract

1280500 Coated paper APPLETON COATED PAPER CO 20 Oct 1969 [21 Jan 1969] 51387/69 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B6 and G2] A lithographic plate comprises a paper support 10, a base coating 12 comprising watersoluble salts of metals with a valency more than one and a hydrophilic colloid, and a top coating 14 comprising a water soluble phosphate and a hydrophilic colloid; the metal ions and the phosphate reacting to form a precipitate which forms a fluid-resistant barrier layer. Preferred materials are shown in the drawing and others are listed. The plate can receive pencil, typewriter, carbon paper and xerographically formed images and can be used in the Verifax (RTM) process.
