Abstract

1280581 Permutation locks PRESTO LOCK CO Inc 23 Jan 1970 [11 July 1969] 3442/70 Heading E2A The latchable pivoted hasp B of a case and which may may be locked by a disc-type combination lock is fastened by a latch-bolt C, 50, sliding in the lock body and movable when its end 50 is pressed to release the keeper 20 of the hasp from nose 22, 116, only when the lock is in the 'open' combination. When the hasp is in the fastening position, Figs. 1 and 3, it covers a pillar 24 over which the tabs 30, 30' of zip fasteners 26 have been placed. The end 22, bevelled at 116, of the latch bolt C is normally held in the fastening position over keeper 20 by spring D tending to slide it rightwards, Fig. 3. Manual pressure at 50, Fig. 4, disengages it. The dials H are indexed by springs 86, Fig. 5, and each dial sleeve has a flat 96 which aligns with a blocking abutment 80 on the bolt C in the 'open' position. The sleeves are indexed to the dials by a key engaging one of ten slots. To adjust the combination, the sleeves are slid axially along spindle G against spring G by axial movement of partitions 102, 104 by a push rod L. The 'open' position of each sleeve is found by poking a wire through hole 120 into a radial hole (118, Fig. 8, not shown), shown in broken lines on Fig. 5, in the sleeve. In a modification (Figs. 14-16, not shown) the lock is at the side of the hasp so' that it is not covered thereby.
