Abstract
1279413 Abrasive tools IMPREGNATED DIAMOND PRODUCTS Ltd 30 Sept 1969 [11 Oct 1968 10 June 1969] 48306/68 and 29377/69 Heading B3D [Also in Division C4] The abrasive part of a diamond tool consists of diamond particles embedded in a porous matrix of sintered metal and held in the metal phase, the metal matrix being infiltrated by a resinoid material, the metal phase being continuous throughout the structure of the abrasive part and the resinoid phase being continuous or substantially continuous throughout the structure of the abrasive part, The diamond particles may be metal coated and the sintered metal matrix may be an alloy of copper or tin and have specific porosity of between 10 and 50%. The metal matrix may be reinforced with metallic fibres, carbon fibres or glass fibres. A metal mesh may be embedded in the material of the backing at least in the region adajcent to the abrasive part. The resinoid material may be an epoxy resin, a polyurethane, or a liquid phenolic resin.
