Abstract

1279096 Refractory compositions RESIL PROCESSES Ltd 8 May 1970 [8 Feb 1969 14 March 1969] 37812/68 and 13624/69 Heading C1H [Also in Division C3] An insulating refractory castable composition comprises by weight 15 to 35% of "floaters", 30 to 45% of calcium aluminate cement and a refractory aggregate. The "floaters" are hollow spheres of expanded silicate glass and can be the components of fly ash which float on water or hollow spheres made from kaolin or china clay. The composition can contain clay; suitable aggregates are silica sand, crushed firebrick, grog, coke and magnesia. Natural or synthetic resin, glue or waterglass can be included as a binder. The composition is used for lining the inner surfaces of moulds for casting metals.
