Abstract

1278569 Glassware transfer arrangements CSS MACHINE & TOOL CO Inc 7 Oct 1970 47632/70 Heading C1M [Also in Division B8] Articles B of glassware are transferred in twos from a dead-plate P to an endless conveyer C by the action of a pusher 40 driven by a pneumatic cylinder 10 which is mounted so that the cylinder 10 and pusher 40 is caused to rotate through 90 degrees during extension of the pusher. The latter is carried by a piston-rod 20 which has a piston 22 and is mounted on a guide rod 30. External guide rods 26, 27 are also provided. Final inward movement of the piston is cushioned by a dashpot device 29. Air is supplied to, and removed from, the cylinder 10, by ducts 61, 62, in a valve block which is normally held rigid with the cylinder by a screw 53. The valve block may, however, be rotated through 180 degrees and secured in the position shown in dot-dash lines (Fig. 3) by a screw 153, to provide for opposite band operation of the transfer device. Valve ducts 56, 57, connecting respectively with the ducts 61, 62, and opening on to suitably aligned supply and discharge ports formed in the fixed housing part 70 of the mechanism, are formed with reversible valvescrews 59. By setting these screws into one or other of alternative positions, it is possible to ensure that the appropriate ends of the ducts 56, 57, are blanked off according to which of the two orientations (full or dot-dash line, Fig. 3) of the valve block is in use. The guide-rod 30 may be replaced by an arrangement (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) which in addition to guiding the piston, provides a stop (203) for limiting the extent of piston travel. The position of the stop (203) may be adjusted from outside the cylinder The pusher 40 may be mounted (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown) so as to be adjustable in three directions at right angles.
