Abstract

1278244 Tyres IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Oct 1969 48328/68 Heading B7C [Also in Division D1] A synthetic yarn for a tyre cord comprises a plurality of individually twisted monofilaments of 100 to 1500 denier, twisted together. The preferred cord has seven filaments of polyester or polyamide of 400 to 600 denier, individually twisted, and twisted together with between 4 and 8 turns per inch. A radial ply tyre may have a breaker structure of two plies of the cords, which are arranged at angles of up to 20 degrees to the mid-circumferential plane. To minimize distortion of the breaker, the plies are spaced as closely as possible, and rubber between the plies may contain dispersed staple fibres.
