Abstract

1278140 Dressing grinding wheels TOYODA KOKI KK 6 Oct 1970 [6 Oct 1969] 47544/70 Heading B3D Apparatus for dressing a grinding wheel 37 having two peripheral portions 37a, 37b comprises two cup-shaped dressing wheels 24, 29, one of the wheels having a bore 41 receiving a portion of the other wheel. The apparatus is mounted by a plate 4 for adjustment about a pivot 5 on the wheel base 2 of the machine, the base rotatably mounting the grinding wheel 37 and being rockable about a pin 3 to effect grinding of a workpiece. The plate 4 is adjustable about the pivot 5 by screws 9a, 9b on the base engaging a recess 8 in the plate and is locked in position by bolts 6a, 6b, 6c. The plate is formed with a guide 11 for a slide 12 which is movable by a piston-and-cylinder device 15, 16 and is, in turn, provided with a guide 18 for a table 19. A plate 26 extends from the table and carries a housing 22 for a spindle 25 at one end connected to a drive motor 23 and at the other end carrying the first cup-shaped dressing wheel 24 formed with the bore 41. A second plate 31 extends from the table 19 and carries a housing 27 which is adjustable about a pivot 27a by screws 35a, 35b and lockable in position by bolts 32, the housing carrying a spindle 30 driven by a motor 28 and mounting the second cupshaped dressing wheel 29 which extends into the bore 41 of the first wheel 24. The lathe 19 can be fed towards the grinding wheel by an automatic device 21a or handwheel 21. The dressing apparatus is adjustable about the pivot so that the wheels 24, 29 dress convex, straight or concave profiles on the peripheral portions 37a, 37b of the wheel upon a dressing movement of the slide 12 by the device 15, 16. The housing 22 may be adjustable about a pivot in the same manner as the housing 27.
