Abstract
1277228 Preparing 7-aminocephalosporanic acid ELI LILLY & CO 6 Oct 1969 [7 Oct 1968 26 Dec 1968] 49067/69 Heading C2A In a process for preparing 7-aminocephalosporanic acid (7-ACA) by treating cephalosporin C or its salt with a nitrosating agent, a carbocyclic arenediazonium salt or a compound that affords positive halogen, at not more than 60‹ C., quenching the reaction in a C 1 to C 3 alkanol and precipitating 7-ACA from the solution, the reaction mixture is treated before or during quenching with 2,2-dimethoxypropane or methyl formate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,017,534 and 948,858.
