Abstract

1277053 Electrolytic apparatus NIPPON STEEL CORP 16 June 1969 [14 June 1968 (2)] 30288/69 Heading C7B An insoluble electrode apparatus for an electrolytic cleaning, plating or other treatment, particularly electro-depositing a film of chromate and metallic Cr on to steel strip or sheet from a soltuion containing CrO 3 and H 2 SO 4 using a Pb alloy anode, comprises a conductor bus-bar 8 extending across an electrolyte tank 1, e. g. mounted on an insulating hanger bridge 7, the bar being coated over a length extending to the outside of the tank with an electrode-forming metal or such metal as will bond by fusion with the electrodeforming metal, e. g. Pb or Pb-Sn alloy, and the electrode 2 being fused and held integrally with the coating layer 11. The bar may be made of Cu or Al and reinforced with steel.
