Abstract

1276948 Track circuit signalling system COMPAGNIE DE SIGNAUX ET D'ENTREPRISES ELECTRIQUES 10 April 1970 [7 Jan 1970] 17264/70 Heading B7N In a track circuit signalling system for detecting track occupation and for conveying information to a train in which the track circuit signal is a carrier frequency modulated by a number of different frequency information tones, the carrier is modulated at low frequencies and the modulation signals after demodulation on the train or at the track circuit end are multiplied to facilitate separation by band pass filters. Alternate circuits operate with different carrier frequencies so that a signal is picked up on the train by either pick-up coil 2 or 3, each tuned to one of the frequencies. Assume a signal is picked up by coil 2 this is amplified at 4 and passed via band pass filter 8 to a second amplifier 10. This supplies a first output which picks up relay 12 so that the power supply V 0 to the second channel is cut off by contact 22, slow to operate relay 23 is energized via contact 20 and the amplifier output is applied via contact 21 and contact 24 of relay 23 when this picks up, to a demodulator 29. The demodulated signals are first multiplied by 2 in unit 30 and then applied to the common input of a series of multiply by 8 circuits M1-M7 which have tuned inputs. The multipliers feed band pass filters F1-F7 each of which supplies an output, when its associated tone is present to operate a signalling relay R1- R7 controlling lamps V1-V7.
