1276467 Vehicle side collision protection FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 29 April 1971 [12 June 1970] 12034/71 Headings B7B and B7J A motor vehicle side protector panel 4 forming part of an external body panel 1 of a door or body side section of the vehicle is welded to other thinner parts 3, 5 of the panel 1 at its edges and is either joined indirectly via a lock mounted at one 6 of its ends and hinges at its other end 7, if part of a door, or is joined directly to substantially vertical body members if part of a body side section. If the side protector panel 4 forms part of a door its ends are welded to an internal pressing 2.
