Abstract
1275632 Treating fabrics HART SCHAFFNER & MARX Inc 3 June 1969 [25 June 1968] 28058/69 Heading DIP A tailored garment formed from a woollen or part-woollen fabric e.g. wool/silk or wool/ synthetic fibre is made by depositing simultaneously on the fabric surface a solution of a cross-linkable resin having reactive -LOCl groups which has been formed by polymerisation of olefinic monomers e.g. a copolymer of ethylene, methacrylyl chloride and vinyl acetate, in an amount of between 2.3% and 4% by weight of the fabric and up to 1.52% by weight of a softening agent e.g. an acrylic resin dispersion, removing solvent, removing pieces from the fabric and joining at least two of them together to form the tailored garment with the resin still in a non-cured state and pressing the garment whilst subjecting it to steam to cross-link the resin. The treating solution may contain a soil release agent or stain repellant e.g. a fluorocarbon resin and the solvent is trichlorethylene, 1, 1, 1- trichlorethane or perchlorethylene.
