Abstract

1,274,542. Portable containers. MAX SANDHERR FILIALE DIEPOLDSAU A.G. 8 July, 1969 [11 July, 1968], No. 34442/69. Heading B8D. A container closure comprises a readilyremovable diaphragm 2 of aluminium foil or paper-backed aluminium foil secured by a hotmelt adhesive over a pouring aperture defined by a metal or plastics ring-like member 3. attached to the container body 1, said member having a sloping surface 8 extending from adjacent the inner wall of the body to the rim 12 of the aperture such as to permit complete pouring of the container contents without trapping of the contents in the vicinity of the rim. A cover disc may be positioned within the ring-like member over the diaphragm, and the member may be provided with a diametral strap to form a handle. Modified forms of ring-like members are illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The container body and ring-like member may be other than circular configuration, e.g. square or rectangular. The container body may be of metal, plastics, or of wound cardboard layers lined with a foil.
