Abstract

1,273,683. Agricultural fungicides. ABBOTT LABORATORIES. 17 Feb., 1970 [10 March, 1969], No. 7650/70. Heading A5E. Seeds are protected against attack by fungi by applying thereto a fungicidal composition comprising 2-cyano-5-nitrothiophene and an agriculturally acceptable carrier and optionally para-tolyl di-iodomethyl sulphone in a proportion of from 1 to 10 parts by weight per part of the nitrothiophene. The compositions may be applied in conventional forms such as emulsions and dusts to corn, barley, wheat, flax, oats, sorghum and cotton seeds. An improved germination is obtained when the treated seeds are sown.
