Abstract

1,273,560. Anchor nuts. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. 28 May, 1969 [14 Aug., 1968], No. 38854/68. Heading F2H. A fastener for use with a screw or bolt 8 comprises a base portion 1 having a threaded aperture and a plurality of arms 2 so arranged that when the fastener is located in a bore 6 of a structure 7 and a bolt 8 is threaded into the aperture, the bolt 8 bears on the arms 2 to urge their free ends 4 to bite into the wall of the bore. The free ends 4 may each be provided with a pair of prongs 5 separated by a concave recess and the fastener may be of resilient steel sheet material. The arrangement is such that on insertion of the fastener into a bore it is initially retained by the engagement of the prongs with the lateral wall of tne recess and is anchored by the insertion of the bolt engaging the medial portions of the arms to effect lateral movement of the ends to cause them to be embedded into the wall of the bore.
