Abstract

A wire strainer of the type used to tension a wire F connected between two points by winding up the wire, is made from metal stock and has a leg 6 about which the wire is wound, a loop portion 7, an arm 9 and a hook 10 at the end of the arm to latch over the wire when the wire has been tensioned. According to the invention, the plane of the loop 7 is at an angle to the plane containing the arm 9. As a modification, the arm 9 is cranked as at 13, Fig. 3. As a further modification, the leg 6 is curved in the plane of the arm 9, Fig. 6 (not shown). Figs. 1, 2 (not shown) illustrate a prior form in which the plane of the loop is substantially in the plane of the arm.
