Abstract
1,272,260. Putty composition. E. B. BERTHELSEN, and J. MIDDELBOE. 9 Nov., 1970 [7 Nov., 1969], No. 54754/69. Headings C3C and C3N. A putty composition comprises a drying oil and small expanded plastics material bodies having an average diameter of 0À1-13 mm. in an amount 5-50% by weight of the total composition. The composition may also contain calcium carbonate (e.g. chalk, whiting), moler, talc, mica or asbestos. The expanded plastics bodies are preferably expanded polystyrene balls which are preferably used in an amount of about 10% by weight. The drying oil is preferably a vegetable oil, such as linseed oil, which may be heated to a temperature of 150‹ C. to remove water therefrom. The composition may also contain non-drying oils, such as mineral oils or animal oils, e.g. tallow oil. In addition, a curing agent such as p-toluenesulphonic acid may be present.
