The prefabricated inspection chamber of the Parent Specification is modified in that a member of polygonal shape is used in place of the cylindrical member forming the chamber. In the example of Fig. 1, the member 10 is square and, as in the construction of the Parent Specification has an integral floor 11 formed with a main through channel 12 and preferably at least one branch channel 13 also, sockets 18 for receiving pipe spigots being integrally formed with the member 10 and floor 11 to communicate sewer pipes with the channels. The inspection chamber is moulded from plastics materials. The floor 11 may be of a different plastics material from that constituting the member 10. Floor portions 22, which slope downwardly towards the channels, may provide a working platform reached by descending a ladder (not shown) formed in one of the corners of the member 10. The axes of the sockets 18 may be at right angles to the adjacent side of member 10, as shown, or inclined (Fig. 6, not shown). In order to maintain a right angled relationship where one or more pipes are to be brought in at an angle, e.g. 60 degrees, a member such as is shown in Fig. 5 is used, where the member 25 is part hexagonal and part rectangular. An additional socket 18 and branch channel 28 also being shown. Alternatively, a member (23, Fig. 4, not shown) of hexagonal form, or a member (29, Fig. 6, not shown) of rectangular form may be used.
