Abstract

1,271,969. Reciprocating and rotary piston pump. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. Aug. 5, 1969 [Aug. 30, 1968], No.39200/69. Heading F1A. A pump comprises a double-walled glass housing 1 having a cylinder 2 receiving a hollow reciprocating and rotating piston 3, the interior of the piston communicating with the chamber at one end, and closed at the other by an air insert 12 a series of apertures 4 in the side of the piston communicating the interior of the piston with an inlet connection 5 and an outlet connection 6 on the induction stroke and exhaust stroke respectively, the connections 5, 6 being spring-urged into sealing contact with the piston 3. The piston 3 is preferably made of glass, and the connections 5, 6 of P.T.F.E. Connections 10, 11 are provided for circulating heating or coding media through the housing.
