Abstract

1,271,308. Tine mounting means. FARM IMPLEMENTS Ltd. 3 Nov., 1970 [1 Dec., 1969], No. 58486/69. Heading AIB. A mounting means for a cultivator tine 2 includes a shear pin 12, preferably a high tensile steel bolt, which is disposed forwardlywith respect to the direction of travel-of a fulcrum point which may be the bottom rearward edge of frame member 5 or a bolt which passes through the shank 3 of the tine 2 and which retains the tine. Preferably the tine 2 is clamped between plates 4 attached to tie rods 6 which fastens the plates 4 to frame member 5. The upturned tail 13 of the tine retains the tine and prevents it from being pulled out by a rearward force. If tine 2 encounters an obstruction the pin 12 shears before the excessive load reaches the breaking point of the tine and tine 2 pivots upwardly. Preferably the plates 4 are reversible so that both edges of hardened steel bushes 11 may be used for shearing purposes.
