Abstract

1,271,074. Dry cleaning processes. F. J. DEWHIRST and T. M. G. DEWHIRST. 2 June, 1969 [4 June, 1968], No. 26590/68. Heading DIA. The cleaning chamber 2, mounted in casing 1, is rotatable about axis 3 and supplied first with steam or atomised water and then with atomised solvent. A steam jet or water atomiser 4, e.g. of the oil fuel spray jet type, directs a jet of steam or atomised water at an angle into chamber 2. A passageway 5 for solvent is carried on cylinder 1 and has an orifice 6 to direct the atomised solvent into chamber 2, jet 4 being mounted in orifice 6. The solvent may contain detergent and water. The steam or water and solvent supplies may be timed by a timer (T), Fig. I (not shown) and associated control valves.
