Abstract

1,270,158. Belt tensioning means. BURROUGHS CORP. 16 Dec., 1969 [6 Jan., 1969], No. 61265/69. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division B6] The tension in a web 11 is adjustable by alteration of the phase of the upper and lower pin-feed fractions positioned either side of a work area. An alteration in the phase between the web 11 and a perforated tape feed control shaft 41 can also be made to adjust the position of working on the web. Either of these adjustments may be effected by alteration of the paths of a single driving belt 33 which extends from a driving source 34, 35, lower tractor driving shaft 27, upper tractor driving shaft 25, a tape feed control shaft 41 and back to the drive source. To alter the phase relation, a plate 51 carrier carrying two idler pulleys is rotated by a worm drive and hand-wheel 53. A similar device pivots about the tape feed control shaft 41. The device may be used to give relative movement between two separate webs.
