Abstract

1,269,762. Crucibles. D.A.HUKIN. 31 Dec., 1970 [9 Jan., 1970], No. 1139/70. Heading F4B. [Also in Division H5] A segmented hollow wall crucible open at one end to receive material for processing and closed at the other by a base 4a, has a segmented platform formed by integral inwardly directed portions of the crucible wall segments 1 intermediate the open end and the base. The crucible has bores 4 and 7 formed in a copper bar 3, with an aperture 8 located therebetween. Each of the elements 1 is bored longitudinally, each bore 1a forming part of a water cooling, system. A primary coil 14 is arranged to extend from the top of the crucible to a point below the top of the bore 7.
