1,269,616. Antibacterial compositions. CEDONA HAARLEMMER PHARMACEUTISCHE FABRIEK N.V. 4 Sept., 1970 [12 Sept., 1969], No. 42545/70. Heading A5B. Antibacterial compositions comprise an effective amount of nitrofurantoin and deglycyrrhizinized liquorice in an amount sufficient to reduce the side effects of the nitrofurantoin. The deglycyrrhizinized liquorice may be present in an amount of one fourth to ten times the amount of nitrofurantoin, by weight. The compositions may be administered orally in the form of tablets or capsules particularly in the treatment of urinary tract infections.
