Abstract
1,269,081. Hypoglycaemic compositions. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 14 March, 1969 [14 March, 1968], No. 13512/69. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical preparations showing hypoglycaemic action contain as active ingredient compounds I (including salts thereof) wherein R 1 is C 1 to 12 alkyl, C 3 to 5 alkenyl, optionally alkyl-substituted, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl of not more than 7 carbons or phenylalkyl of not more than 9 carbons, R 2 is H, Me or Et, R 3 is H, C 1 to 7 alkyl, C 1 to 7 chloroalkyl, alkenyl with not more than 5 carbons, optionally alkyl-substituted, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl or cycloalkyl-alkyl of not more than 8 carbons, phenyl phenylalkyl or phenylalkenyl of not more than 10 carbons wherein the phenyl group can be mono-, di- or tri-substituted by F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , C 1 to 4 alkyl, OH, MeO, EtO, MeS and/or EtS, R 4 is H or Me and m is 2 or 3. In addition to the usual acids, the salt forming component may be a sulphonyl - urea, e.g. N 1 - p - tolylsulphonyl - N 2 - butyl - carbamide, N 1 - p -chlorobenzenesulphonyl - N 2 - propyl - carbamide and N 1 - p - [2 - (2 - methoxy - 5 - chlorobenzamido) - ethyl] - phenylsulphonyl - N 2 - cyclohexyl - carbamide. Administration is preferably by the oral route.
