Abstract

1,268,765. Pipe joints; pipe stoppers. E. PASS & CO. Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [2 April, 1968], No. 15901/68. Headings F2G and F2P. A liner 5 has a stem 6 which is inserted into the end of a pipe 8 of, e.g. plastics material, so that the flange 7 thereof abuts the end of the pipe and a sealing ring 10 of wedge-shaped cross-section is located on the pipe with the thin end thereof adjacent the flange 7, an externally screwthreaded member 11, slidably located on the pipe, being in abutting relation with the thick end of the ring and in screwed engagement with a cap 12 having a tapered bore 14 in engagement with the sloping surface of the ring 10; the cap 12 is connectible to a further pipe, or closed. The ring 10 may be of hard rubber such as ebonite or a synthetic plastics material such as nylon, and the cap, member 11 and liner may be made of the same materials or of metal, e.g. brass.
