Abstract

1,268,200. Cosmetic aerosol compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 July, 1969 [25 July, 1968], No. 35611/68. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C4] A composition suitable for dispensing as a quick-break foam from an aerosol container comprises a foam-stabilising agent, a solvent system and a fluorochlorohydrocarbon propellant, and contains an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a carboxylic acid of the aromatic series or of oleic acid. The salt may be sodium, potassium or ammonium benzoate, p-hydroxybenzoate or oleate. Examples give "basic" compositions containing no active ingredients or containing hexachlorophene only; the final product may be a sunscreen, insect repellent, after-shave preparation containing menthol, deodorant or antiperspirant and may contain lanolin, polyethylene glycol, glycerol, hexachlorophene, zinc or aluminium salts, and wetting agents. The foam stabilising agent may be a reaction product of ethylene oxide with a fatty acid or fatty alcohol.
