Abstract

1,268,051. Pocket inhalers. FISONS PHARMACEUTICALS Ltd. 23 May, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No. 27209/68. Addition to 1,122,284. Heading AST. An inhalation device comprises a two part housing 1, 2 with a propeller-like member 5, having vanes 6, mounted within the housing part 2, and mounting means 7 for a container 19 of finely divided medicament at the end of the member 5 furthest from a mouthpiece 3 of the housing, the device having mounted externally on the housing means for perforating the container. The perforation means may comprise a pin 10 mounted on a carrier 11 capable of sliding forward, against a return spring 12, the needle moving through a slot 13 in a container receptacle. The housing and perforation means may be enclosed within a two part shell, 16, 17 one part, 16, of which is fixed to the housing part 1, which may also include a venturi 8. Parts 1 and 16, are removed to load a perforated container into the propeller-like member and then replaced. The other part, 17, of the shell is then removed to enable inhalation from the mouthpiece 3 to take place.
