Abstract

1,267,481. Selective printing. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 July, 1970 [4 July, 1969], No. 32265/70. Heading B6F. In a printer in which characters are printed by a single column of elements in a cage as it moves along a printing line, the elements 4 are moved to effect impression by electromagnets having prolonged magnetic cores acting upon levers 11 arranged radially from the impression zone. The levers 11 may be hinged at 12 between the perimeter of the cage 1 and a lid 2 or formed as a right-angled extension (27) of inwardly directed elastic tongues (24) of a washer (20). Alternatively (Fig. 6) the cores may actuate, at mid-point, spring returned levers (45). The cage, slidable along bars is also pivotal.
