Abstract

1,265,901. Developing electrostatic Images. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Feb.27, 1969 [Feb.29, 1968], No.10482/69, Heading G2H. A magnetic brush apparatus for developing a latent electrostatic image on a web 1 comprises one or two rollers 7, 8 which produce and maintain a tumbling accumulation of the developer to one side or between the rollers. The roller or rollers rotate in the opposite direction to the feed of the web. In the case of two rollers, the roller 8 rotates faster than roller 7 or the roller 8 may be of larger diameter than roller 7. Alternatively, the size and speed of the rollers may be the same and the strength of the magnets may be greater in the roller 8 than the roller 7. A rotatable roller 32 having an internal magnet 31 removes magnetic particles deposited in the web 1 during development.
