Abstract
1,265,392. Dehydration of bromine. KALIFORSCHUNGSINSTITUT. 29 March, 1969, No. 16593/69. Heading C1A. Liquid bromine is dehydrated by maintaining it at an elevated temperature and removing any water which separates out. Preferably the temperature is between 50‹ C. and the boiling point of bromine. The dehydration may be performed in a vessel as in the drawing having a bromine inlet 3 close to the surface of the bromine, a syphon 5 which is the outlet for the dehydrated bromine and also regulates the -bromine level in the vessel, and a water outlet 4 positioned above the normal maximum bromine level. The vessel may be heated both internally, by an element 2, and externally, by a jacket 1. As water separates it is drawn off through the outlet 4.
