A nestable cup has a bottom 9, a frusto-conical side wall and inwardly projecting ledge 8 and a plurality of hollow protuberances 10 extending from the ledge 8 towards the bottom 9; the upper ends of the protuberances defining openings in the inner periphery of the ledge 8. The protuberances 10, (3), Fig. 1, (14), Fig. 14, (16), Fig. 5 (not shown) are so shaped or arranged that when two similar cups are nested one within the other the internal pattern of the openings in the ledge of the bottom cup does not match or coincide, except perhaps over a small range of relative orientations of the two cups, with the external pattern of the bottom ends of the protuberances. This allows free passage of air to the space between the bottoms of the nested cups and hence facilitates separation of the cups. The cup has an annular zone of the side wall, above the ledge 8, formed with an arrangement of helical ribs (5), Fig. 1 (not shown) providing a finger grip portion. These helical ribs (5) may be arranged to interengage with the corresponding ribs on a similar cup nested therewith to orientate the nested cups into predetermined relative positions of rotation. Such an arrangement may thus be used to preclude the undesirable small range of relative orientations wherein an air passage to the space between the bottom of two nested cups is not present.
