Abstract

1,263,427. Coating-apparatus. P. HAMMELMANN. 12 Oct., 1970 [10 Oct., 1969], No. 48391/70. Heading B2L. [Also in Division A4] Apparatus for cleaning and/or applying preserving fluid to a vertical surface comprises an implement fixed to an adjustable mast of a vehicle, the implement comprising an evacuable chamber 4 open at the side adjacent the surface 6 to be treated and having spray nozzles 8, 9 mounted thereon. The chamber is sealed along two sides by rollers 10, 11 and bands 12, 13 around the roller ends seal the two remaining sides. A train of rollers 15 held in position by flexibly interconnected bars 17, 18 fills the space between the runs of bands 12, 13. A second train of rollers 19 having a single bar 20 is located above the inner run of bands 12, 13. The chamber is evacuated through a pipe 17 and is mounted on the vehicle mast by a ball and socket joint 28. The chamber is driven by an oil motor 14 on roller 10. Between the core 37 and flexible covering 40 of the rollers 10, 11 are two spirally arranged tubes 41, 42 which can, through a control 43, be filled with oil to vary the radius of the roller along the roller as shown in Fig. 5.
