Abstract

1,263,397. Chucks. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 5 June, 1970 [7 June, 1969], No. 27136/70. Heading B3B. In a three jaw drill chuck of the kind comprising a chuck body 1 having an internally screw-threaded bore 2 for screwing on to a drive spindle for operating the chuck, a sleeve 4 rigidly connected to the said body and having an internal conical surface 7, a jaw closing member 11 axially movable in the chuck body and comprising a plate 9 and a spigot 10 for abutting the spindle, and springs 14 supporting the jaws 12 against the internal conical surface 7, the said chuck is characterized in that the diameter of the spigot 10 is arranged to be at least one-third of the diameter of the plate 9, and the top endface of the spigot 10 and the bottom end-face of the plate 9, which faces extend perpendicularly to the axis of the chuck body, are arranged to lie in parallel planes. The diameter of the spigot 10 is preferably one-half the diameter of the plate 9, and the half-apex angle of the conical surface is between 24 and 28 degrees, preferably 26 degrees.
