Abstract

1,262,777. Cartons. MARDON SON & HALL Ltd. 1 Oct., 1970 [23 Oct., 1969], No. 51892/69. Heading B8P. In a container of fibreboard or plastics material having four side walls folded up from a central base and connected by corner gussets 13, end walls 11 have extension panels 15, 16 folded upon one another and bonded together and further extensions 17 forming dust flaps. The front and rear walls also have extensions 24, 25 folded upon themselves and bonded together and to the respective front or rear wall. The extensions on the front wall 12 carry a dust flap 22, and those on the rear wall carry a lid with a flap 27 that is tucked inside the front panel 12. Lugs 19 on panels 16 engage cutouts in the extension 25 when the carton has been erected and lugs 29 on the lid engage apertures (18) in panels 15 to secure the lid. After opening the lid the carton can be laid flat by pulling on flaps 17 which release the double walls 15, 16 and the gussets 13. The lid may be omitted.
