Abstract
1,262,114. Automatic exchange systems. SIEMENS A.G. 16 April, 1969, No. 28473/70. Divided out of 1,262,113. Heading H4K. The availability of an intermediate link between matrices of adjacent stages of a switching network is determined by applying a high ohmic test potential of one polarity to one end of the hold wire of the link and connecting a detector to the other end of the wire such that the detector only responds to the test potential in the absence of a low ohmic busy potential of opposite polarity. Naturally, faulty e.g. open circuited links are not inadvertently seized since these will not transmit the test potential. As shown, capacitor C is normally fully charged so that when contact d is changed-over it can discharge through high resistance W2 and the hold wire H of link Z and thus bring-up electromechanical or electronic relay P. If busy potential in the form of low resistance (e.g. relay coils) negative battery is present on the wire H, diode G is biased-off and relay P cannot respond. The test potential and relay P are connected to the hold wire via auxiliary crosspoints of the matrix switches K1, K2 at respective ends of the link.
