Abstract
1,261,422. Purification of carbonate process solutions. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP. 12 Sept., 1969 [29 Oct., 1969], No. 4522,5/69,. Heading C1A. The quantity of organic contaminants -in a carbonate process solution is reduced by adsorption in a bed of activated carbon, which is regenerated by passing an -aqueous wash liquor at an elevated temperature through the bed. A carbonate process solution is a substantially saturated solution containing at least one of sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate from which crystals of sodium carbonate precursors, such -as sodium -bicarbonate or sodium sesquicarbonate may be formed. The aqueous wash is preferably in the -temperature range 50‹ to 95‹ C., and a plurality of washings is preferred, some of which may utilize previously used wash liquor.
