Abstract

126,099. Cooper, T. L. R. March 28, 1918. Armatures and field magnets, cooling; insulation. - A combined electric motor and pump particularly for use under water includes a motor of the kind described in Specifications 113,627 and 117,296 in which the stator winding is enclosed in a chamber filled with insulating material. Liquid from the pump impeller 7 escapes through the clearance 21 and circulates through the casing channels 22 to the suction end of the pump and enters the suction tube by the clearance 20. This serves to cool the motor. The rate of flow of the cooling liquid is controlled by a valve 27.
