Abstract
1,260,696. Disazo dyes. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. 24 July, 1968 [24 July, 1968], No. 37296/69. Heading C4P. [Also in Division G2] Novel yellow disazo dyes, used in photographic emulsions (see Division G2), of formula wherein A is a phenyl or naphthyl residue containing 1-3 SO 3 H or COOH groups, R 1 is a H or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group,. X is a heterocyclic residue and Y is a -CO- group or the residue of a dicarboxylic acid bonded to the -NH- groups by -CO- groups are described. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized amine A-NH 2 with an appropriate acylamino-aniline and condensing two mols of the intermediate aminoazo dye with phosgene or with a dicarboxylic acid derivative.
